PetSafe Freedom Aluminium Patio Panel Sliding Glass Door Pet Door: Review
A pet door for aluminum patio sliding door installation/mounting
The pet door comes with aluminium siding/framing and a temepered glass panel, as well as a top adjuster to adjust the height of the setup
For installation, you slide the panel into one end of your sliding door track, secure it to the frame and add weather stripping; no cutting required
To measure your sliding door for a pet door, simply measure the distance between the top and bottom track
There’s two adjustable heights available 76 13/16″ – 81″, and 91 7/16″ – 96″
There’s 4 sizes available from small through to Large-Tall, with the biggest size being suitable for dogs up to around 130lbs
The Large-Tall size has an 8 inch rise for taller dogs at the bottom of the pet door
The biggest size flap opening is 10 1/4 inches wide x 16 3/8 inches high
There’s 3 frame colors available – white, satin and bronze
There’s a slide in security panel to close off the pet door
The flap on this pet door closes with a magnetic strip
You’ll have to manually insulate the edges of this pet door frame setup with extra weather stripping you can buy for pretty cheap from a hardware store.
Installation takes about an hour – it’s best to follow the instructions on PetSafe’s website and the instruction video
The flap would be better as a clear flap
Giant dogs won’t be able to use this door – it’s more for up to large and some extra large dogs
Overall, for a sliding door pet door, this pet door is good value for money. You will have to insulate it further to what is provided in the kit you get, but that’s about the only minor issue with this door.
