Drawbacks
It’s frustrating and can take a few hours to install this door because of the materials and the awkward way you have to have the frame/insulation in, then put the cover and screws over the top.
The door cover itself could be made of stronger material than the flimsy plastic it is made of
The screws and hardware supplied are nylon and not solid steel – they could be replaced with steel screws to be much stronger
The door frame/tunnel could be thicker and stronger
The security panel that secures to the back of the door could slide in more securely and have a mechanism to lock it in which is doesn’t
Overall
Overall, after you’ve got the door installed, for the price – the door is worth it if you’re looking for a cold weather of insulated type dog door.
It’s not the strongest dog door out there, but it’s fairly energy efficient as long as the magnetic strips on the outer doors stay on and keep their magnetism.

How Do You Install This Dog Door?
There’s no substitute for following the manufacturer’s instructions for installing their Pet Door product which should come with the door, or should be found on their website. They may also have YouTube videos to help you.
Generally, for most Pet Doors you need to cut out a section of the door or wall, insert and fix a frame or tunnel extender into the wall or door, and then fix the door onto the frame.
This may involve using a jigsaw or cutting tool, a drill, a screwdriver (can be phillips head or sometimes a non standard screw is included in the kit so check this), and the hardware included in the pet door kit.
Sliding doors and aluminium frame installs are generally easier as there’s usually no cutting, but just rather inserting and sometimes fixing involved.
Some people choose to install themselves, whilst some people choose to get a professional handyperson to do it for them.
