Cons

The price is not cheap

For some people, 15.4 lbs is too heavy for them for a vacuum – but for a powerful vacuum, this weight is reasonable

The dust and hair collection canister could be slightly bigger

The dust and hair collection canister could be easier to remove – it’s kind of cumbersome to remove

The flexible vacuum hose could be slightly longer

Overall

Overall, this vacuum is worth every penny. It’s the best pet hair removal vacuum on the market, and it’s very versatile as a premium vacuum cleaner for everyday use as well.

The only reasons you wouldn’t get it if you have dogs is because of the cost or if you really want a smaller lightweight vacuum.

Performance and quality is generally good compared to other vacuums

Dimensions are 45.5 inches (H) x 11.0 inches (W) x 9.0 inches (D)

Volume of the dust container is 1.17 quarts

Power rating is 12.0 amps

Requires 14 watts

Has a 1 year limited warranty

Comes with a crevice tool

Drawbacks

Might be better with a lithium ion battery instead of Nickel Cadmium

Battery doesn’t always hold charge, and over time, it can lose some of it’s charge and power

Because of the battery time, this vac isn’t as good for large areas or long duration cleaning

The suction on the vacuum is OK, but not among the strongest suction vacuums – it can struggle with pet hair

Durability/reliability of the vacuum can be a concern – some people have issues with parts breaking or the battery going dead.

Doesn’t come with a pet hair tool or any other useful tools apart from the crevice tool

Overall

The vacuum is affordable/comes at a good price, but there are some major drawbacks to it as well. Shark has much better corded options like the Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away TruePet Vac that seem more reliable, durable and perform much better with suction for general mess and pet hair

Some people find the parts and the battery on the vac to be unreliable over the short and long term

Doesn’t come with a motorised pet hair tool

Overall

Like the cordless Freestyle vac, the Rotator Freestyle is affordable/comes at a good price, but there are some major drawbacks to it as well. Shark has much better corded options like the Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away TruePet Vac that seem more reliable, durable and perform much better with suction for general mess and pet hair. The better models are a bit pricier

Drawbacks

Not a cheap vacuum

As an upright vacuum, it’s not lightweight – some people can find it heavy and hard to maneuver

Suction is very strong and can be less suitable for light rugs and carpets

Overall

Overall, it’s a pricy vacuum, but the suction, range of features and overall performance make it worth it as a high end vacuum you can use on hard and soft surfaces, and on larger areas. Two things to be aware of are to protect your purchase by reading the warranty conditions and return policy prior to buying. And second, to check the accessories and tools you get with the vacuum – as you may get different tools on Amazon compared to direct through Shark.

Drawbacks

The dust container is quite small at around .25 gallons or 0.91 quarts

The vacuum doesn’t stand up on it’s own

Like all vacuums, sometimes you might struggle with long or thick hairs trapped in thicker carpet which might need to be dislodged first, but surface hairs usually aren’t an issue.

Overall

The vacuum is pricy – there’s no doubt about that. But, because of the power, range of features, overall performance and lack of major drawbacks, it is worth the money you pay for it. Like all vacuums, read the warranty conditions and return policy before buying to make sure you cover your money outlay.

The vac is good, but with a few minor drawbacks for the price. Most people that buy it are happy with it as a light to medium duty corded vac with detachable hand vac capability. It’s better with smaller volume thin pet hair than heavier pet hair. You might look at something like the Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away TruePet Vac as an alternative option that gives you top performance for the price. With all vacs, make sure you check the warranty and return policy before buying to protect your purchase

Doesn’t have DuoClean or MultiFlex technology

Doesn’t come with a wall mount

Not a cheap vacuum

Run time could be longer – battery life could be improved

Can struggle with larger amounts of pet hair

Overall

A pretty good value for money vacuum for both hard floors and carpet. Because of the battery life, it’s more for quick cleans and small spaces. The brush, filter and dust container can sometimes clog with larger volumes of thicker or longer pet hair. So, it’s worth it for light to medium duty cleans in small areas. Because it has electronics, a battery and a motor – read the return policy, and warranty conditions before you buy to protect your purchase.

Overall

Overall, the vacuum is good, but maybe not quite worth the money it is listed at. It’s best as a vacuum for bare floors and shorter carpets where it can pick up mess on the surface, rather than deep down within fibres. It’s also better for short cleans and small areas rather than extended cleans and big areas. Read the return policy and warranty conditions before buying to cover your money investment.

Comparison Of Different Shark Vacuum Models

– Shark Navigator Lift Away vs Deluxe vs Professional vs Speed: Comparison

View Vacuums

If you prefer, you can go straight to viewing these vacuums here:

Shark Navigator Lift Away vs Deluxe vs Professional vs Speed vs Freestyle vs Pet: Main Differences, & Which To Get?

Overall

All of these vacuum have good ratings.

The regular Lift Away, Professional and Deluxe are all popular, and commonly bought for home owners and pet owners.

We rated the Shark Professional as one of the best vacuums for pets.

The Speed in particular though may be well suited to dog owners because of the self cleaning brush (that is designed to prevent pet hair wrap of the brush roll).

In terms of upright corded vacuums, these Shark models are some of the best on the market.

If you are looking for affordable models, you may also want to check out the BISSELL Cleanview Swivel Pet, or the Eureka PowerSpeed.

Similarities

Firstly, all of these Navigator models are corded, upright vacuums

They can all be used on multiple floor surfaces (carpet and bare floors), and also have a lift away capability to be used above floor level on surfaces like stairs, upholstery, and so on.

Additionally, all vacuums have anti-allergen complete seal technology, swivel steering, ability to shut off the brush roll, and have 5 year limited warranties (although – you want to check warranty and return policy with the seller prior to buying).

Differences

Secondly, there are some differences in these upright vacuum models.

Some of the main differences between them are:

Cleaning tool inclusions – each model might come with slightly different cleaning tools. Make sure to check them before you order

Weight – the Professional is 13.7lbs total, the Speed 13.4, and the Deluxe and regular Lift Away both 12.5lbs

Dust cup capacity – the Speed is 0.9 dry quarts, the Deluxe and regular Lift Away are both 1.2 dry quarts, and the Professional is 2.2 dry quarts (to the fill line)

Never Loses Suction technology – the Deluxe and Professional have this technology which maintains suction and power over time, whereas the regular Lift Away doesn’t

Self cleaning brush roll – the Speed is the only model that has a self cleaning brush roll to deal with pet hair (aimed at reducing pet hair wrap)

Suction control – the Speed is the only model with manual suction control slider (although the other models have height adjust for stronger and weaker suction on different surfaces)

Wattage – the Speed is the only model rated at 800 watts, and the other 3 models are at 1200 watts
