Shark APEX DuoClean Powered Lift Away vs Shark Vertex DuoClean PowerFins Powered Lift Away vs Dyson Ball Animal 2: Main Differences, & Which To Get?

Overall

In our opinion, all three of these vacuums are some of the best (and top rated) high end/higher priced vacuums for general vacuuming and pet related vacuuming on the market.

They would suit those looking for upright, corded, strong suction vacuums that come with a range of the most advanced features of any vacuum on the market.

Essentially, if you don’t want just a standard/basic or mid tier upright, corded vacuum, these vacuums are worth consideration.

In addition to these Shark and Dyson Ball Animal models, you may want to check out the Eureka PowerSpeed, BISSELL Cleanview Swivel Pet, and the Shark Navigator Professional models as other upright, corded vacuum alternatives.

Similarities

All three of these vacuums:

– Are upright, corded vacuums

– Fit into the higher priced range of vacuums, and some of the most advanced features to match

– Have some of the strongest suction

– Have brush rolls or cleaning tools designed to deal with pet hair wrap and tangling

– Are a similar weight at around the 17lbs mark

– Have some of the longest limited warranties on the market (both 5 year limited warranties at the current time)

Differences

– Shark APEX DuoClean AZ1002 vs Vertex DuoClean Powerfins AZ2002

The differences between these models are that the Vertex has the DuoClean Powerfins system in the brush head (which we’ve explained below), and the APEX DuoClean has the regular DuoClean system.

Additionally, the APEX DuoClean model has a slightly bigger dust cup capacity.

The Vertex model is newer, and is designed to be Shark’s most powerful vacuum, and to have top level suction (with HyperVelocity Accelerated Suction Power) and innovative cleaning technology (with the Powerfins system)

– Shark vs Dyson Models

A few of the main differences between the brands are that Shark models have powered lift away technology for motorized cleaning when cleaning above floor level, whereas the Ball Animal 2 has the standard hose and cleaning wand/cleaning tool above floor cleaning.

Additionally, the Shark models use the DuoClean Zero-M and DuoClean Powerfins technology in the vacuum cleaning head which the Dyson doesn’t have (although it does come with a tangle free brush cleaning tool)

The Dyson has the Ball technology for it’s steering and maneuvering which the Shark models don’t have.

The Dyson also has a bigger dust cup capacity (0.55 gallons = roughly 2 dry quarts, compared to 1.5 and 1 dry quarts of the other Shark models).
