  • It is quite heavy at 200lbs
  • You may want to put some form of traction underneath the wheel like rubber matting or blankets that stop it from sliding when your dog is on it
  • A warranty longer than 1 year would be better for something that costs this much
  • Some people have questions over whether running on a wheel is good for a pet’s spine and posture. It is best to check this with your vet before purchasing – get your vet to OK buying and using the wheel

  • Overall, the wheel is made well and works well. Make sure you have enough room for it, you get your vet’s approval for your pet to use it first, and you would also want to make sure you are ok with the return policy and warranty conditions before you buy. If you want to check out a dog treadmill instead, the dogPACER LF 3.1 is for dogs up to around the 170lbs range

Potential Benefits Of A Dog TreadWheel

  • They can be used inside so the weather outside where you live doesn’t matter when it comes to exercise using the treadwheel
  • Good for preventing obesity related problems
  • Good for potentially decreasing vet bills as a dog that exercises regularly might be in better shape
  • If your dog is an allergy sufferer, an inside treadwheel can be a good option for exercise compared to going outside
  • Treadwheels can be a good for owners who are sometimes time poor
  • Treadwheels can be good if you live in an area where late night walking might be less safe (as your dog can get exercise inside at night)
  • Dog treadwheels can be good for those with smaller living spaces and without a backyard

Should My Dog Use A Dog TreadWheel?

Ask for a professional vet’s advice on whether your dog should use a TreadWheel. There may be concerns over the health of the spine or your dog’s posture long term by running on a wheel – so get this checked off before buying.

Dogs with injuries or health conditions may not be suitable.

Make sure you read any instructions that come with the dog TreadWheel, so you know how your dog can use it safely.

It’s usually best to not leave your dog alone on the treadwheel and to supervise them when they are using it.

Also note that a doggy treadwheel is not a substitute for daily outside walking, exercise and socialisation of your dog – it is a complement or supplement to it.

Will My Dog Be Comfortable Using a TreadWheel?

Some dogs may be comfortable straight away, whilst others may take time to get used to it.

Treats and rewards based training to use the TreadWheel can work well.

Eventually, they may use the TreadWheel without treats or rewards if you consistently use some type of positive reward based training.

Some dogs may even love a dog TreadWheel because they love the exercise. But, be careful not to over exercise them.

In rarer instances, you may have to get a professional animal trainer in if your dog refuses to get on the TreadWheel at all.
