What’s Good?

  • Designed to restrain your pet to the backseat of a car or truck, or the cargo area of a SUV (as long as your vehicle has the proper dimensions)
  • Has a scratch and tear resistant pet screen
  • Has half inch light weight metal tubing that maintains barrier’s shape and prevents dogs from squeezing over, under, or around barrier.
  • Installs by attaching to front seat headrest and either the seat belt mount or around car seat frame.
  • Can also attach to the backseat headrest in cargo area
  • The screen is 56 inches wide. It is ideal for full-size sedans / trucks / Large SUV’s
  • To determine if it will fit, measure the width of your vehicles interior just below the headrests. If the width is more then 56 inches it will fit.
  • The barrier is about 31 inches high

What Could Be Improved?

  • If the barrier is too wide, it will not fit in your smaller vehicle. Same thing with a bigger vehicle – you could have some space around the barrier if the barrier itself is too small
  • The barrier is not adjustable

Best Dog Barriers For Cars, SUV’s & Trucks: Buyer’s Guide

What Size Dog Barrier Will Fit Your Car, SUV or Truck?

It depends on the barrier you get.

With the Bushwacker for example, you have to measure the width of your vehicles interior just below the headrests. If the width is more than 56 inches, it will fit.

Note that for cargo areas, the barrier is about 31 inches high. If you cargo area can accommodate a 56 x 31 inch barrier and has top and side attachment points for the barrier, it will likely fit.

With the Zoo Keeper – it is expandable from 42″ to 61” wide. The height is 28.75″. Consider this with you vehicle.

What’s Wrong With The Cheap Net Dog Barriers?

Two main things:

  • they usually have poor attachment systems
  • they are usually very weak so even small dogs can bust through them

Overall, they just aren’t very effective.
